Today listening to this shabad - devotional hymn from Golden Temple Amritsar 'saachi preet hum tum sang jori,' which means 'My Lord I have loved you truly' set me thinking what is true love in the modern day context.
Today the people expect some return for loving. We have commercialised even our emotions ...
The stories of Heer Ranjha, Mirabai and Radha are not relevant today. These are good only to be listened and taught to children in the text books, and for making paintings and drawings for adorning our walls and galleries...everything ultimately boils down to 'money'.
There is a full page advertisement in the newspapers today where a jeweller is offering 'love' this Valentine season.. they are offering 'attractive' discounts for purchasing jewellery from their shop...a web site designer is ready to give a lower price only because he 'loves' you... You can add the instances manifold from your daily experiences.
The days of 'true love' without any expectations are things of the past...!!!! I have yet to find someone who loves without any ulterior motive...May be I shall find true love one day...
Modern day Love is all about money!!! and it is tragic...
