CEMENT DI NAZM

eh cement di nazm

main suniaen tu jaa rahi hain
ki sach much tu jaa rahi hain !

eh cement di nazam ;
muskrandi paee hai;
merian sadhran di mazar te;
khwahishan de rakhean nu
oongh kyon hai aa gayi
eh tan mere imtihanan
di hai pehli hi bhalak!

auh vekh!
daswin chhat te
do phull khide han;
eh vekh meri akh cho
hanjhu kire han!

bhukhian akhan
bhukhian roohaan,
saawi neeli parchian pharh
ik boti mas layi
khehbar rahian han;
zindagi hai k masaan hai!

door neele parbatan di
kukh vichon dhuan jamyaen
neele asmanan di akh vich
saon jharian paa gaya hai;
mere jazbe, bhukh dian
sardalan te so gaye han!
raat de parchawaean vich
khayal mere jhau gaye han!

par,
jadon aawengi tu
agli bhalak!
zindagi de surkh hothan te;
chumman lehrange,
surkh phullan di palak te
aus thar tharayegi!
aas joohan vich
suche supne gidha paonge!
aathne de gaisu
purwa malakare chhoh jayegi!

es cement di nazam de
kaafiye main bhann deyanga;
mereyan chawan di holi ;
khedan da ehnu dann deyanga
is di nehsi kabar te,
mitti di muth payengi na!

agli bhalak aawengi jad
agli bhalak aawengi jad!!

Central Secretariat Chandigarh designed by Le Corbusier is
euphimistically called a 'poem in concrete' There used to be a cafetatia on
the tenth floor of the building where green and blue
tokens for lunch, tea etc were sold to visitors and employees.
In the far north one could see white smoke emanating from
Surajpur Cement Factory. This poem was written with these
symbols in mind!!
