Faiz Ahmad Faiz

Faiz Ahmad Faiz  MBENI, was an influential left-wing intellectual,revolutionary poet, and one of the most famous poets of the Urdu and Punjabi, language from Pakistan and India. A notable member of theProgressive Writers' Movement (PWM), Faiz was an avowed Marxist. Listed four times for the Nobel Prize in poetry, he received the Lenin Peace Prize by the Soviet Union in 1962. Despite being repeatedly accused of atheism by the political and military establishment, Faiz's poetry suggested a more nuanced relationship with religion in general and with Islam in particular. He was, in fact, greatly inspired by both secular poetry and South Asia's Sufi traditions. His popular ghazal Hum Dekhenge is an example of how he fused these interests.
Faiz was controversially named and linked by Prime minister Liaquat Ali Khan's government for hatching the conspiracy namely Rawalpindi conspiracy case against Liaquat Ali Khan's government, along with a left-wing military sponsor Major-General Akbar Khan. Having been arrested by Military police, Faiz among others received a maximum sentence by Judge Advocate General branch, although his sentence was commuted after the assassination of Liaquat Ali Khan in 1951.
He remained extremely influential in Pakistan and his work continues to influence the country's literature and arts. Faiz was publicly honored by the Pakistan Government after his literary work was publicly endorsed and posthumously honored him with nation's highest civil award, Nishan-e-Imtiaz, in 1990.

    TU MAANE YA NA MAANE!!!

The Wadali Brothers (Ustad Puranchand Wadali & Pyarelal Wadali) are Sufi singers and musicians. They were born into the fifth generation of musicians given to singing the messages of Sufi saints. Puranchand Wadali studied music from celebrated masters like Pandit Shri Durga Dass Ji of the Patiala Gharana . Pyarelal was trained by his elder brother, whom he considers his mentor and guru even today. The Wadali Brothers sing in the Gurbani, Kaafi, Ghazal and Bhajan genres of music.

    The CRANE DANCE

"Well, things change: new passions, new threats, new fears.
New consequences, too. Nowadays, we don't think much
about Theseus, the Minotaur, Ariadne on the beach
at Naxos, staring out at theanan coming years.
But people still dance that dance: just common folk,
those criss-cross steps that no one had to teach,
at weddings and wakes, in bars or parks,
as if hope and heart could meet, as if they might
even now, somehow, dance themselves out of the dark.'

    Yiannis Ritsos

Yiannis Ritsos an outstanding Greek poet spent many years in political exile, prisons and sanitoriums. Despite persecution by German Nazi occupation forces for his leftist views, he produced outstanding works of poetry, drama and essays. His 'O Epitaphios'  or Funeral Procession (Janaza) was symbolically burnt at the foot of Acropolis for his communist views. He writes with compassion and hope celebrating life. In 1967 he was imprisoned again by Greek junta and banned from publishing till 1972. Despite all the odds he had published 117  works of poetry, drama and essays. Many of his works including 'O Epitaphios' were set to music by Mikis Theodorakis which became immensely popular.

TERE ISHQ KI INTEHA CHAHATA HOON!!!

Tere ishq ki intaha chahta hooN
meri sadgi dekh kya chahta hooN

    sitam ho k ho wada-e-behijabi
    koi bat sabr-azma chahta hun

ye jannat mubarak rahe zahidon ko
k main ap ka samna chahta hooN

koi dam ka mehman hun ai ahl-e-mahfil
chirag-e-sahar hun, bujha chahta hoo N

bhari bazm mein raz ki bat kah di
bara be-adab hun, saza chahta hooN

    CRY FOR LOVE !!!!!

If you come close then I will show you
If you come close then I will show you (Photo credit: RonAlmog)
Come close to me,I'm not fire.
    Fires are extinguished by rivers.
    Are drowned by storms.
    Are chased by north winds.
    No,I'm not,I'm not fire.

Come close to me,I'm not the wind.
Winds are cut off by the mountains.
Are silenced by the burning sun.
    Are overwhelmed by floods.
    No,I'm not,I'm not the wind.

I am nothing but a warrior,
a resting walker who laid his body
down the root of an olive tree,
to hear the song of the crickets.
And if you wish, come to hear it together

    A UNIQUE ART

A photomicrograph is photograph taken through a microscope or similar device to show a magnified image of an item. Advances in photomicrography have been beneficial to both the scientific and artistic aspects of these images. Today digital photography allows scientists to see their pictures as they take them and provides far more flexibility as they prepare their final images on a computer. Researchers can adjust colors to produce the most effective result. The use of a variety of fluorescent proteins allows scientists to illuminate samples in bright colors and, at the same time, see the inner workings of cell processes. Opaque objects such as metal and stone may be ground smooth, etched chemically to show their structure, and photographed by reflected light with a metallurgical microscope. Non-live biological materials may be dyed so that their structure can be seen, and mounted on glass slides for photographing by transmitted light using ordinary light microscopes. Or, by using ultraviolet, infrared, electron, or X-ray microscopes, sharp photographs can be made of living, unstained specimens. Cinephotomicrography, taking motion pictures of magnified objects, is useful in studying organism growth, colloidal movement, and chemical reactions.

Give us Lohri, long live your pair (to a married couple)!
Whether you cry, or bang your head later!

Giddha is essentially danced in a circle. All of the dancers clap their hands and sing small couplets called Boliyan. These Boliaan are emotional, humorous, and teasing, and cover various topics such as love and nature. Then, two of the dancers come to the centre and perform the dance. These Boliyan cover themes from nature to the excesses committed by the husband or mother-in-law or other relatives, and love among other things.
Mimicry is very popular in Giddha. Giddha incorporates village life scenes of women spinning cotton, fetching water from the well, etc. This is accompanied with appropriate Boli songs.
