KUCH TO HAWA BHI SARD THI ---

Kuch to hawa bhi sard thi, kuch to tera khyal bhi,
dil ko khushi ke sath sath hota raha malal bhi;

baat wo aadhi raat ki,  raat wo poore chand ki,
chand bhi ain chet ka, us pe tera jamal bhi;

sabse nazar bacha ke wo, mujhko wo aise dekhta,
eik dafa to ruk gayi, gardishe mah o saal bhi;

dil to chamak sakega kya, phir tarash ke dekh lein,
sheesha garan e shahr ke hath ka yeh kamal bhi;

Us ko na pa sake thay jab dil ka ajeeb haal tha ,
ab jo palat ke dekhiye baat thi kuch muhaal bhi !!!

I WILL FIND YOU NO MATTER WHERE YOU GO !!!

Hope is your survival
A captive path I lead.

No matter where you go
I will find you
If it takes a long long time
No matter where you go
I will find you
If it takes a thousand years.

No matter where you go
I will find you
In the place with no frontiers
No matter where you go
I will find you
If it takes a thousand years.

KHURSHID KHAN- A TRUE MUSLIM

Mohd. Khurshid Khan is a top ranking law officer of Pakistan based in Peshawar (North West Pakistan), and a crusader for inter-faith harmony. He is known for his humanitarian spirit and zeal for selfless service for the cause of peace and goodwill in Pakistan.

He had sleepless nights after the brutal killing of the members of a minority community in Peshawar. He undertook to voluntary 'seva', (community service) to cleanse his troubled conscientious, but this didn't go well with the conservatives and hard core 'mullahs'.

In March he was in news for his seva for polishing the shoes of devotees and sweeping floors in many gurdwaras including Golden Temple Amritsar (India) which didn't go well back home. According to Khan this 'was to heal the wounds of minorities in Pakistan by becoming their sevadar. For him this was a penance for the crimes against minorities.

The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Pakistan issued him a notice for defaming the country abroad, but the notice was never delivered to him after a strong opposition from liberal lawyers.  According to him he was informed by his son about the development. He is said to have instructed him to return the official car assigned to him forthwith. He told that he had done it in his personal capacity and in his own time.

Asma Jahangir a well known social activist and former President of SCBA said “the notice has been issued in a manner that is bigotry'' She was widely supported by many people.

 Nasir Mohammad and Ashar questioned the decision saying  '' that a person should not be penalized for his personal decisions which simply showed an attitude of humility, service and respect for people of other faiths?

Another, Syed Hamid Ahmed writes like this"I agree that Deputy Attorney General Khurshid Khan should be honored, he has heart to feel the pain when an innocent human is killed, exactly like Prophet of Islam (peace be upon him) had said “If you kill one innocent man it is like killing whole mankind”.
We all are easily swayed by emotionalism and hatred for all those who don’t agree with us, that is exactly we are taught at schools and in Masjids. Sunni hates Shia, Shia Hates Sunni ,,,, and all collectively hate Hindus, Sikhs, Christians and still we are proud to be Muslims.
Do we follow religion of Peace or Hate?
If it is in my power, I will buy a shoe from a Sikh in Amritsar polished by Khurshid Khan DAG and keep it as a souvenir of Great Islamic Tolerance.

To all those hate mongers, I am a Muslim, I am a Sayyed and I don’t need a certificate of being good Muslim from you, period. It is between me and my Allah.   (emphasis is mine).

Khan claimed that he had been sacked for his support to PPP and told a news channel that recently an ANP activist had threatened him with dire consequences.

 “Now, I’ve been released from the golden cage. I will continue to fight against corruption,” he added.

To me he is another Badshah Khan, the sarhadi Gandhi.

May his tribe prosper...Ameen!

KILLING LONELINESS

Nailed to a cross together as solitude begs us to stayWe disappear in the lie foreverAnd denounce the power of death over our soulsAnd secret words are said to start a war
Oh, I'm killing loneliness with youThe killing lonelinessThat turned my heart into a tombI'm killing loneliness!!!

KISAN BABURAO HAZARE - THUNDER to WHIMPER

Kisan Baburao Hazare was born in a poor family. His father was assistant in a pharmacy who struggled to support the large family on his meagre income. A relative took him to Mumbai for his education and upkeep. But he could study only upto class seventh . Eventually he took to selling flowers at Dadar railway station of Mumbai.

During Indo China war of 1962 the Indian Army started emergency recruitment and despite not meeting physical requirements he was attested as a soldier in the same year. He was posted to Khem Karan sector where he was the sole survivor in an aerial attack.

In 1970 while driving an Army vehicle he survived a road crash. He was discharged from Army service in 1975 after completing 12 years of service.

Soon after he returned to his ancestral village Ralegan Sidhi.Although his family owned a small land which was unsuitable for cultivation due to rocky formation of the ground. The small amount of gratuity from his Army service was used by him to restore a dilapidated village temple. He shifted his residence to the temple premises.

Hazare organised a 'tarun mandal' (youth group) to eradicate alcoholism in the village people. They also forced over thirty liquor dens to close down . Those villagers who didn't succumb to social pressure were tied to pillars and flogged sometimes personally by Hazare.It was also decided to ban the sale of tobacco, cigarettes, and beedies (an unfiltered cigarette) in the village.He also promoted Grain Bank and Watershed development In 1991 he started People's Movement against Corruption.

In 2011 he started a Jan Lokpal Andolan (People's Ombudsman Movement) and started a fast at Jantar Mantar in Delhi to press for a formation of a joint committee of the representatives of the Government and the civil society to draft an anti-corruption bill with stronger penal actions and more independence to the Lokpal. The movement attracted attention in the media and thousands joined his cause.

Though he has been praised for his courage but his opponents accuse him of being an RSS member, a right wing Hindu body and of fraud during fasts and irregularities in the accounts of trusts headed and supported by him. He is also accused of being anti democratic,anti Muslim and anti dalit.

Recently on 25th July 2012 he started an agitation in support of his movement and his team members started indefinite fast which he also joined later. But this time the crowds were missing from the venue of his protest. Sensing the dwindling interest of the masses, he declared on 2nd August to end  agitation and announced that he shall be forming a political party to contest in the ensuing elections. This has been welcomed by all the main political parties.

Sadly a movement which had raised the hopes in the minds of many and had started like a thunder has died with a whimper.

THE REBEL POET-KAZI NAZRUL ISLAM

It is difficult to describe the multifaceted personality of Kazi Nazrul Islam in one word - poet, playwright and actor, composer,lyricist writing songs and poems for plays and musicals steeped in folklore and ancient history of the land. He was the eternal wanderer who enlisted into the Indian Army for his youthful love of
the unknown. He was well versed into Sanskrit and Bengali literature. He also acquired the knowledge of Persian and was influenced by Tagore, Rumi,Hafiz and Omar Khayyam.He vehemently attacked the British  rule through his writings and was charged with sedition.He was humanist and secular to the core and named his children with Hindu names like Krishna Mohammed and Arindam Khalid...
He was equally revered by India and Bangladesh and was awarded Padma Bhushan by India and 'ekushey Padak' by Bangladesh..

BIDROHI !!!

I am the unutterable grief,
I am the trembling first touch of the virgin,
I am the throbbing tenderness of her first stolen kiss.
I am the fleeting glance of the veiled beloved,
I am her constant surreptitious gaze...
...
I am the burning volcano in the bosom of the earth,
I am the wild fire of the woods,
I am Hell's mad terrific sea of wrath!
I ride on the wings of lightning with joy and profundity,
I scatter misery and fear all around,
I bring earth-quakes on this world!
I am the rebel eternal,
I raise my head beyond this world,
High, ever erect and alone!

(excerpts from his Poem Bidrohi...translated by Kabir Chaudhary)

PABLO NERUDA- IF YOU FORGET ME

Pablo Neruda (July 12, 1904 – September 23, 1973) was the pen name of poet, diplomat and politician Neftalí Ricardo Reyes Basoalto. He chose his pen name after Czech poet Jan Neruda. In 1971 Neruda won the Nobel Prize for Literature.
Neruda became known as a poet while still a teenager. He wrote in a variety of styles including surrealist poems, historical epics, overtly political manifestos, a prose autobiography, and erotically-charged love poems such as the ones in his 1924 collection Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair.
Neruda always wrote in green ink as it was his personal colour of hope.
During his lifetime, Neruda held many diplomatic positions and served a stint as a senator for the Chilean Communist Party. In 1948 a warrant was issued for his arrest for sympathizing with socialist cause.
Neruda hid for several months in a basement in a Chilean port and later escaped into Argentina with the help of friends.  He was a close friend to socialist President Salvador Allende. When Neruda returned to Chile after his Nobel Prize acceptance speech, Allende invited him to read at the Estadio Nacional(National Stadium) before 70,000 people.
However, Neruda was hospitalised with cancer at the time of the Chilean coup d'état led by Augusto Pinochet. Three days after being hospitalised, Neruda died of heart failure on September 23,1973.
 Already a legend in his lifetime, Neruda's death reverberated around the world. The government of Pinochet denied permission to transform Neruda's funeral into a public event. However, thousands of grieving Chileans disobeyed the curfew and crowded the streets.
                I want you to know one thing
                you know how this is
                if I look at the crystal moon
                at the red branch of the slow autumn
                at my window
                if I touch near the fire
                the impalpable ash,
                or the wrinkled body of the log,
                everything carries me to you,
                as if everything that exists,
                aromas,
                light,
                metals,
                were little boats that sail
                towards those isles of yours
                that wait for me.
                Well, now
                if little by little you stop loving me,
                I shall stop loving you,
                little by little
                if suddenly you forget me,
                Do not look for me.
                For I shall have already forgotten you.
                if you think it long and mad,
                the wind of banners
                that passes through my life,
                and you decide to leave me
                at the shore of the heart
                where I have roots,
                Remember,
                that on that day,
                at that hour
                I shall lift my arms
                and my roots will set off
                to seek another land.
                But
                if each day
                each hour
                you feel you are destined for me
                with implacable sweetness
                if each day a flower,
                climbs up to your lips to seek me,
                Ah! my love,
                Ah! my own,
                in me all that fire is repeated,
                in me nothing is extinguished
                or forgotten,
                my love feeds on your love,
                beloved,
                and as long as you live
                it will be in your arms,
                without leaving mine.......

SPREAD THE SUNSHINE !!!

Tattered Leaves
Tattered Leaves (Photo credit: Rachel Ford James)

White winter
snow storms
numbing out the
feelings of tender love,
forget the torn tatters of past;
Let the morning mist engulf us in its embrace;
till the vapour becomes our existence!!!

Don't think about the cold winds,
the slush,
of the shivering months ahead;
the cold demands us to get closer
to people in our hearts
and share our energy,
our warmth!
and spread the sunshine!!!

Strangers in the Dark (Photo credit: erikogan)
STRANGERS !!!

Peeping through the closed windows

in the dark alley

two lips have met

like two rays entwined!!!

do they know what is light!!!

In the lap of slush

like two pink petals

two hearts have

blossomed;

do they understand

what is in store for them

on the banks!!!!

O My Myna !!!

Posted by Picasa

O my Myna!
today
as you are smiling and singing
waking , sleeping
in my arms
do you know
the
very next moment
could be the last;
it could turn our existence
to ruins!
the finger of time
could wreck us to extermination!!!

O my Myna!
do you know
the hand from which you have
picked the seed today,
may perish the very next moment;
the falcons may
devour it;
seek them,
 like flames
reach the straws;
we are walking on a narrow
tip of a needle
and the
tip of the needle is very sharp!
Do you know!

O my myna !

ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ ;
ਚੂੰਡ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ ;

Inspiration !!!

You have made me endless

such is your pleasure.

This frail vessel

you empty

again and again,

and fill it ever

with fresh life.

This little flute of a reed

you have carried

over hills and dales

And have breathed

through it

melodies eternally new.

At the immortal touch

of your hands

my little heart loses

its limits in joy and

gives birth to

utterance ineffable.

Your infinite gifts

come to me only

on these very small

hands of mine.

Ages pass and still

you pour, and still

there is room to fill....

IT IS ALL ABOUT MONEY

Love ? I love love love you.
Love ? I love love love you. (Photo credit: @Doug88888)
Today listening to this shabad - devotional hymn from Golden Temple Amritsar 'saachi preet hum tum sang jori,' which means 'My Lord I have loved you truly' set me thinking what is true love in the modern day context.

Today the people expect some return for loving. We have commercialised even our emotions ...

The stories of Heer Ranjha, Mirabai and Radha are not relevant today. These are good only to be listened and taught to children in the text books, and for making paintings and drawings for adorning our walls and  galleries...everything ultimately boils down to 'money'.
There is a full page  advertisement in the newspapers today where a jeweller is offering  'love'  this Valentine season.. they are offering 'attractive' discounts for purchasing jewellery from their shop...a web site designer is ready to give a lower price only because he 'loves' you... You can add the instances manifold from your daily experiences.

The days of 'true love' without any expectations are things of the past...!!!! I have yet to find someone who loves without any ulterior motive...May be I shall find true love one day...
Modern day Love is all about money!!! and it is tragic...
